Ecomhunt's Trending Product Suggestion - Sell This Toddler Fluffy Sleeping Bag + Store & Ad Review, Targeting Suggestions, And More

We’re back again with a new trending product recommendation!

This time it’s a Winter product designed for toddlers which parents everywhere will have to get. When I found this product on Ecomhunt and checked the ad + store, I found out that the original seller didn’t market it too well so he probably lost a lot of sales in the process.

It’s now your time to take this product and market it correctly to get sales going – If you read this article, you’ll see what mistakes you need to avoid and what needs to be changed so this product takes off for you!

On top of that, there’s also targeting suggestions for your Facebook ads campaign and selling strategy. Make sure to read the whole article to not miss a thing!

find winning products to dropship

1. The Product

Today’s trending product is this Toddler fluffy sleeping bag that caught my attention while searching for winning products on Ecomhunt. I think it’s a great product to start selling right now because we’re already in the Cold season and parents will be looking for warm clothes for their children. And when it comes to newborns, nothing is going to stop them from buying something as cute as our product!

Here’s what I like the most about this product:

1. The quality – Based on the pictures and the reviews on Aliexpress, this product looks like a total winner. It’s exactly as advertised, super fluffy, cute, and it’s sold in huge numbers on Aliexpress with good reviews. 85% of people rated this product 5 stars and 8% rated it with 4 stars.

2. The reviews – I already said that this product has a lot of good reviews and plenty of people are happy with the order, but the most important part here are the actual content of these reviews. The photos reviews are absolutely amazing and show the product in its full glory.

On top of that, there’s also a review with a toddler in it which makes it even better. All you have to do is to import these reviews to your store, pin the one photo with the toddler in it, and you have the perfect social proof which will help you get more sales!

3. The audience –  When it comes to children, nothing is too expensive! Parents will be looking to protect their little ones from the cold so this product, if advertised correctly, have the potential to become a MUST HAVE product for them.

4. The targeting – Targeting parents on Facebook is a piece of cake and we’ll have no problem finding the ones with toddlers(0-12 months). Unlike other audiences with dozens of huge interests, this one is simple.

This product is perfect for Winter so it gives us plenty of time to sell it. We don’t have to worry about a deadline or offer any delivery guarantees ?

2. The Ad

The ad itself is very basic and just shows the product in “action”. They show us how they wrap the baby 2 times from different angles and a cute shot of the lady holding him wrapped in her hands. A basic call-to-action ends it all and that’s basically it.

There’s some room for improvement like adding text explaining a bit about the product like the material its made from and how it protects the little ones from the harsh cold outside. The first shot is too slow and should be replaced by the second shot where the baby is placed and slowly wrapped in our fluffy sleeping bag.

You can add some facts to your video explaining how important it is to keep the feet and hands always warm(this product solves it), etc – A scare tactic to make parents buy it.

The call-to-action in the end should call people to buy our product AND also advertise our discounts. It’s usually “50% OFF + Free Shipping” so we should see it too on top of the “Get yours now” text.

I would recommend checking out different sellers on Aliexpress to see if you can find more videos of this product. Maybe you’ll find a few more toddler wrap shots or something really cute that will make your video ad really stand out.

The ad copy:

I think there are too many emojis in the ad copy and the product can be introduced a lot better than what they did.

For example:

“Protect your little ones from the cold this Winter with our 100% *insert material type* Fluffy Bear sleeping bag âť¤ď¸Ź

Get yours here => *link*

Available in different colors & sizes – Order yours today and get 50% OFF + Free Shipping!”

Now this doesn’t look like a sleeping bag and in my opinion, it’s a bit stupid to call this product a sleeping bag… So just call it a pramsuit – “Fluffy Bear pramsuit”.

3. The Store

Now here’s the strange thing about the guys running ads for this product: Their store isn’t online and it’s been like that for a few hours already so they’re burning their money paying for traffic and sending it to nowhere.

Maybe they have an issue with their domain as the text implies or maybe it’s something else, the fact is that they’re still running ads to plenty of other products too. Take a look at the ad library which everyone can see in Page Transparency:

Plenty of high quality ads for great products, but all of them still point to the same inactive domain. I really wanted to check out their product page and their checkout flow but unfortunately it isn’t available.

Oh and by the way, make sure to check out all the other products they’re advertising. Some of them, like the family board games, have a HUGE potential to sell really well during the holidays ?

So what do we do when we can’t access the store? We look for a different store selling the same item. Fortunately for us, we don’t have to look far because we have the Store Hunter feature on Ecomhunt.

This is a really cool feature that gives us a list of Shopify stores selling the same product + some useful tools like checking the latest products added for each store. This is a great way to spy on other stores AND to potentially catch a winning product before anyone else by checking out the recent products for each store.

This is how the Store Hunter feature looks like:

And the store we’re going to review is the first one in the list – Appledivine.com

I’ll start with the good stuff about this store:

1. The Logo – The logo looks great! It’s really simple, minimalistic, and in my opinion the perfect fit for this kind of store.

2. The Theme & design – I think they’re using a premium theme(not sure) which gives them the option for sections in their description. Instead of having it all displayed, they can setup some sections like FAQ, Shipping, and more to make it shorter and more organized.

Let’s move on to the bad stuff:

1. The description text – A simple auto-translate from Chinese to English. They didn’t even try to fix it to display something normal… If you target English speakers, please make sure you have no typos and please don’t use the auto-translate description text from Aliexpress.

2. The Title – It’s boring, long, same title as on Aliexpress. Make your titles feel a bit more exciting by giving your product a cool name. Something like “Fluffy Bear Comfysuit” is much better for a title.

3. The Add to Cart button – You can barely see because it’s transparent. I think they’re using the dynamic checkout option which displays another button based on customer’s location and other criteria. My advice is to disable the dynamic option so the only button customers see is the Add to Cart one with full color.

4. The reviews – I have no idea from where they imported their reviews because they’re just bad… Too many typos, half-completed sentences, and only one photo review when we had at least 12 in the Aliexpress product page.

5. No trust badges – There are so many apps there that can provide trust badges to your store, some are completely free, so I don’t understand why in 2020 people still forget to place them in their stores. These will make your customers to feel more secure when browsing and ordering something from your store. If you want a higher conversion rate, make sure you have trust badges on your product pages and checkout pages.

6. Related products – In most cases, when driving traffic to a single product, customers will just buy it and move on. In some cases, they’ll buy more than one item or get the upsell you’re promoting. The related products section can only hurt your conversion rate because it takes the customers away from your product. Whether they click on a different product, or just stop to look at them, it prolongs the checkout process and this is something we want to avoid.

It’s better to close the deal as fast as possible and later you can worry about selling more stuff to your ALREADY existing customers.

7. Too many variants – Have you ever had too much to choose from that couldn’t decide what to pick? Like when ordering food when you’re super hungry or what to watch on Netflix. Well the same thing can happen when you have too many options to choose from when ordering online.

In our case, I think there’s too many color options and we could easily limit it to 4-5 max. On top of that, some sizes for some colors are out of stock on Aliexpress so it makes it much easier for us to decide what colors to remove.

8. The price before discount – When selling a product, make the fake discount at least 40% so it feels like the customer is getting a really nice deal. 10% – 20% discounts just doesn’t have the same vibe as 40% – 50% discounts.

The Store Hunter feature will help you see what others are doing and you can always take inspiration from great looking stores. It could be that you’re not sure about the price, or your description, so checking out what others are doing can really help!

4. Targeting

The most obvious targeting option is to target women with toddlers. In order to do that, you’ll have to choose New Parents in Demographics + age & gender. In our case, women is the best choice to target so New Parents – Women – age 22~35.

You can combine this targeting option with big fashion retailer interests, winter clothing interests, etc. Or you can also target only Married women which can increase your chances of getting a sale as the second parent is also in the picture ?

Married Women + New Parents(0-12 months):

It gives us an audience of 460k which is a pretty good size.

Another option is to target Grandparents who would love to get something as sweet as our product for the newest member of their family <3

Grandparents targeting:

You’ll have to target older people and add to it some broad interests like Grandparent, Parenting, Grandchild, etc. Unfortunately for us, there isn’t a simple Demographics interest that can find us new grandparents so the only way is to go broad and hope for the best.

5. Selling Strategy

If you market it correctly and “scare” a bit the parents, then you can sell this product for $39.99 and maybe even $49.99. I think the sweet spot is somewhere between $39.99 to $44.99 with Free Shipping of course.

To increase your AOV(Average Order Value), you should offer quantity discounts for those who will get more than one item. This is a great product for toddlers and I feel parents will be more than happy to buy 2 of these if the discount is good.

This means you should offer at least 15% discount for the second item ordered + 5% discount for each additional item. Offering something lower than that is just a waste of space on your product page because it’s not tempting enough.

One-Product Store Option:

You can try your luck and create a one-product store around this product and “brand” it to make it look more valuable. This should increase your chances of getting sales BUT it will require a bit more investment like getting a custom domain, opening a new store, and getting new apps.

If you have the time for it and you know what you’re doing, then go for the one-product store strategy!

To Sum It Up:

This is a great Winter product, but most importantly, it’s a product parents must buy to keep their little ones warm! If you market it correctly, and maybe use some scare tactics, then I think this product can easily become a hit and sell in HUGE numbers.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in the comments.

Good luck.

4 Things You’re Doing Wrong When Dropshipping

4 Things You're Doing Wrong When Dropshipping
4 Things You're Doing Wrong When Dropshipping

There’s probably a lot of things dropshippers are doing wrong but these 4 are the biggest mistakes you can do and you should definitely avoid them!

In this week’s article, I’ll share 4 mistakes newbie dropshippers and even advanced dropshippers are doing. From installing unnecessary amount of apps and paying for them to having the wrong mindset which will eventually lead to your failure.

find winning products to dropship

1. Testing Too Many Products

There’s absolutely no guarantee that testing a certain amount of products per day/week/month is what going to make you a successful dropshipper. In most cases, especially if you’re just a beginner, this will make you fail even faster.

In dropshipping, like with most businesses out there, there are no guarantees and no secret methods. You can learn everything there is from the Pros but in the end you’ll need to test it by yourself and hope for the same results.

The problem begins when most newbie dropshippers think they’re doing it right but in fact they’re missing a lot of stuff. It can be a store you worked on for 2 weeks thinking it’s perfect when it’s complete unoptimized garbage. Or launching a Facebook ads campaign “exactly” as the Pros are doing, but the settings are just not right which lead to nothing…

Combine these newbie mistakes with testing 20 products per week, and you’re on your way to a complete failure. You can say goodbye to the $5k you saved to become a dropshipper because they’ll disappear in the first 2 weeks of your journey.

Here’s the correct way to do it:

  1. Learn it all – Don’t spend a single cent on ads before you know exactly how your store needs to look and how to build a good working Facebook campaign. You’ll still make mistakes here and there but it won’t be the same as if you rushed it.
  2. Your budget, your rules – Testing 20 products per week is cool when you have the time, experience, and money for it. If you can’t afford it, then don’t do it. It’s better to test one product a week and do it the right way than testing 20 products the wrong way.
  3. Even the best plans fail – Even the biggest dropshippers out there fail so be ready to fail even if everything looks perfect. Maybe the product is good but the time you decided to dropship it is wrong. Maybe the audience is a bit saturated because they were heavily targeted by other marketers/companies. Maybe it’s Facebook acting up again and delivering your ads to crappy audience… To sum it up and like Mike Tyson used to say – “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” In our case, Mike is Facebook ?

By the way, everything you need to know about Dropshipping, Shopify and Facebook ads can be found for free on our blog and Youtube channel.

2. Installing Way Too Many Shopify Apps And Paying For Them

Let me tell you a secret – You can still makes good sales with zero apps installed on your Shopify store. If you have a good product, a great looking ad, and a ready optimized store, then you will get sales no matter what.

Now, this doesn’t mean you don’t need any apps installed on your store. Shopify apps are designed to solve issues you may have with your store, increase your sales, and other useful services that can benefit your business.

The REAL problem is when people install dozens of apps as if they have an unlimited budget and the store they’re running is a worldwide hit making 6-figures a day in sales. This isn’t the way things should work and it’s just a big waste of money!

All I ask from you is to be more careful and money-wise by following these simple rules:

  1. Know your budget – Starting a dropshipping business is very cheap compared to other businesses but this doesn’t mean you should not look for ways to save your money. $10 a month is indeed cheap but it all adds up! If you’re not careful enough, your apps will eat too much of your budget with no real results to back it up. If you can’t afford the apps, then run the store as it is.
  2. Compare – Don’t just install the first app you see that does what you need! You should always check for other apps on the marketplace to see if there’s one that offers the same service for less or maybe with a longer trial period. Sometimes, you may even find an app with a free version that does exactly what you need.
  3. Switch to save – Switch to a different app just before the trial period ends to save money. There are many apps out there that offer the same service and most of them offer free trials. You can install the one you need and uninstall it just before the trial is about to end, then quickly install a different app that offers the same service and enjoy another week or two for free. It may sound a bit cheap but for some people saving $10 a month is a big deal so nothing wrong about this method. We all start somewhere 🙂
  4. Install apps that will make you more money – If you already decided to install some apps, then make priority for the ones which will increase your sales. Money making apps should always come before design improvement apps.

Always remember that the Gurus you see on Youtube are not in the same situation as you are. They have more experience, budget, and sometimes a whole team behind them that helps them. So just follow your guts and act according to your budget.

3. Thinking There’s A Minimum Budget To Start Dropshipping

Some Gurus say you need at least $2k to start dropshipping, some say $5k, and others may say $500 is enough. In reality, there’s no “magic” number and it all depends on how you approach this business.

If you’re here to make a quick buck after watching some Youtube videos, then you’ll probably need at least $10k because the rushers always make the biggest mistakes. If you take it seriously and take your time learning everything, then you can succeed with less than $200…

I found success with my Family niche store when I only had $200 in my PayPal only because I really took my time and did my research. There was absolutely no luck involved – I found an upgraded version of a winning personalized product, marketed it correctly, and slowly scaled it as I was getting more and more sales.

Unfortunately, in most cases, newbie dropshippers will do so many mistakes with their stores, ads, etc, that what the gurus are telling about the starting budgets is correct. If you want to avoid that, then just do your homework.

If you do your homework, you will learn that creating a store shouldn’t take 2 weeks and you don’t have to invest on premium themes or paying hundreds of dollars on a logo. It shouldn’t take you more than 1 day, and costs less than $30 for all the designs you need. This also leaves you with 13 more free trial days which is enough time to test a couple of products.

If you do your homework, you will learn that Facebook ads doesn’t need huge budgets and you don’t need to spend money to “mature” your pixel because it has no data. You can launch a campaign with $5 daily budget adsets and get sales. Even if it’s a new pixel with zero data.

Just do your homework guys to have a real chance of making sales no matter what budget you have!

If you want to take it to the next level and understand exactly how we build our stores, create our campaigns, and run our ads then check out our Ecomhunt masterclass course. You’ll get access to 70 video lessons which will take you from a beginner to a complete pro! (with some cool bonuses too)

4. Thinking Too Big (You’re Not Amazon)

It’s ok to dream big and hope that one day you’ll run a successful dropshipping store that makes 7-figures a year BUT this comes with time and you have no option but to start small. On top of that, you have to understand your situation and think the right way to get sales going.

Here’s a good example from my POD(Print-on-Demand) days:

A lot of people, including myself, were thinking about having their own clothing brand. So if I were selling in the fitness niche, my goal was eventually to have a successful store selling apparel with my own logo on it.

The quickest way to do that is to open a fitness clothing store, find POD companies that offer fitness clothing, and slap my logo on every product and make it look as if I’m a real fresh brand selling top notch fitness clothing.

This is also the fastest way to fail because:

  1. No one knows about you and you have to invest insane amounts of money or offer a unique piece of clothing(which doesn’t exist) to actually succeed and build a name.
  2. The time & money you have to invest will quickly throw you off from this venture forever. Sometimes, you get so burned that you don’t want to try e-commerce ever again.

The slowest and more safe way to do that is to realize you aren’t going to become an instant brand and you should first focus on getting customers. So instead of slapping my “$300 professionally designed” logo on my fitness shirts, I’m going to get a bit creative and print funny quotes, creative designs, and offer something unique that should land me a sale at some point.

By doing it first and gaining actual customers & making profit, I can then slowly turn my store into a real brand with already existing customers to back me up.

Back to our dropshipping store…

You need to understand that there’s absolutely no chance someone will go on a shopping spree and add a bunch of random products to his cart. This means you don’t need to invest your time on adding dozens of products to your store before publishing it. Or sending your traffic to the front page hoping for some big sales.

Your goal is to advertise a SINGLE product and to get a sale as fast as possible – No random product bundles or unlimited amount of styles to choose from. Pick a winning product, add a few styles/colors, offer quantity discounts or a logical bundle(better if the extra product is simple and doesn’t have too many details), and that’s it.

Customers then see your ad on Facebook, visit your store, and purchase the product if everything else is ok. Once you get that sale, then you can think about milking more from your customers by offering other products you have on your store.

Understanding this will save you so much money & time and it will eventually lead you to having the success you’re looking for.

To Sum It Up:

Some people will have to learn all of this the hard way but not you because you’re part of the Ecomhunt family 🙂 Take action and learn from these tips because knowing them will save you a lot of time & money in the future.

If you have any question, feel free to ask me in the comments.

Good luck 🙂

Ecomhunt Dropshipping Podcast Season 1: Dropshipper Rafael Cintron Says STOP! Be Patient With Facebook Ads!

Check out this interview by Ecomhunt’s Ariel Ben Solomon with 7-figure dropshipper Rafael Cintron where he talks about when to give up on a product, how he spots potential winners, and much more!

In this interview with the Ecomhunt’s Ariel Ben Solomon, Rafael Cintron explains how people tend to give up too quickly on a product, but if you had just waited a day later you could have discovered a winner.

Rafael says that a niche store is the best way to go because if you test a losing product you will have to do way too much work. It is possible to create a niche store and then create a one product store or special product page for the winning products.

He also defines a winning product as one that sells at least 3-4 per day, scalable to many people, and also can be found on Amazon.

It is possible a product you think would never sell actually turns up a winner so watch the video to not make the same mistake!

Ecomhunt's Winning Product Suggestion - Windshield Snow Cover You Must Sell Right Now + Targeting Suggestions, Selling Strategy, And Full Video Ad + Store Review

Apart from selling Christmas themed products, November is also the best time to start selling Winter themed products. These Winter products don’t need any Christmas delivery guarantees and you can keep selling them long after Christmas is over.

So for this week’s article, I have found an amazing product on Ecomhunt with almost unlimited selling potential and decided to share it with you. I will review everything about this product starting from the video ad to the store selling it. You will also receive a few targeting suggestions which I think will work the best for this product and a full selling strategy to get the most out of your traffic!

This article is going to be really detailed with a lot of examples which is perfect for both beginners and advanced dropshippers. Hope you like it ?

find winning products to dropship

1. The Product

Today’s winning Winter product is this awesome snow windshield cover which solves a problem a lot of car owners have each Winter. The problem is the ice and snow that gets stuck on the windshield during the night and the car owners have to remove it every morning before going to work.

Fortunately for me, I come from a pretty hot region so our Winters are mostly just rain but I know about this problem from my friends and family who live in cold countries and have to deal with it every Winter. This is a real issue for a lot of car owners worldwide and this product provides a quick and cheap solution.

What I like the most about this product:

1. It’s a problem solving product – As I already said, this product solves a problem a lot of people have and this kind of products are the best to sell. It’s not some cool lifestyle product, it’s a must have product which saves a lot of hassle for car owners. If you ever find yourself in a dilemma thinking what product to test next, then always go for the problem solving one.

2. It’s One Size – This product has a universal design to fit almost any regular car out there AND there’s only one size to choose from. Your customers won’t need to worry about sizes and measuring, which ensures a much faster checkout process. The less time your customer spends thinking about styles, sizes, etc, the faster he will get to the checkout page to complete his purchase.

3. It’s a Winter product – There won’t be any delivery guarantees to worry about and you can keep selling this product as long as it snows. This means you have at least till March or even April to sell this product.

4. It has a global need – This product can be sold anywhere where it snows and it doesn’t need too much explaining to do. You can start by targeting USA and Canada which is the obvious choice and the first one probably for many dropshippers, but if you feel like targeting Germany or Sweden, then you start with them first.

Important: When targeting countries where English isn’t the main language, you can choose English(All) in the targeting options to get your ad shown only to those who understand it. This way you can still run ads without the need to translating your product page and parts of your store.

5. It’s pretty cheap – It costs about $7 including shipping which gives us a pretty big profit margin to work with. I’ve seen windshield snow covers sell for $30 and even $40 in big numbers so selling this one for $30 won’t be a problem and we’ll have a $20+ profit margin to work with.

2. The Ad

The video is not the best and it has some major flaws:

1. It isn’t the same product – Some parts of this video show a totally different cover with side mirror covers and extra elastics to secure it on the vehicle. The product on Aliexpress has only magnets and no side mirror covers so showing something different isn’t how it should be done.

This could’ve been avoided simply by asking for a video from the seller or by looking at other sellers who sell the same product and using their videos instead.

2. The beginning of the video isn’t catchy enough – The ad begins with the woman installing this windshield cover instead of removing it right away and showing what this product does. Our role as dropshippers is to catch the attention of our targeted audience in order for them to click on our ad.

Make sure the first seconds of your video are catchy enough for your target audience to stop and watch the rest of your video and eventually click on your link. In this case, showing the woman removing the cover and the snow with it should work much better than showing her simply installing the cover.

3. No call-to-action at the end of the video – It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to add a simple call-to-action text at the end of your video ad. It doesn’t have to be a fancy text filled with special effects… A simple “Click Shop Now to get yours” text is better than not having anything at all.

4. Not the best description text – A simple text like “Stop wasting time on removing snow and ice from your windshield – Get our Premium snow cover today!” is much better than what they did.

If you want to start with a question, you can do something like this “Aren’t you tired of removing snow from your car’s windshield every morning? Then our windshield snow cover is the solution you were looking for!”

Their text is like a question from the user manual which makes the product seem boring. You need your target audience to feel excited about the product which is finally there to solve all their problems(no matter how simple it is).

5. Price in the title – I think they put it in the title because $15 is pretty cheap so they thought it will get them more clicks. There’s some logic behind this move but I personally never write the price anywhere in the description or in the video ad.

Don’t confuse your target audience by showing them the price and let them enjoy your video first. Once they click on your link and visit your store, that’s when they’ll decide if the price is right.

I give this video ad a score of 5/10 – You can easily create a MUCH better video ad showing the right product and one that does a better job catching the attention of your target audience. The cheapest video ad service on Fiverr will make a better job than they did.

3. The Store

They did a much better job with the product page than with the ad so I’ll start with the good stuff first:

1. The product description – The description design is perfect! It has pictures, GIFs, guarantees, shipping, and trust badges. The text on the other hand isn’t the best(in some places) and some of the photos/GIFs show not the same product found on Aliexpress(same case with the video ad). But overall it’s good and you can copy the same structure and use it for your own products.

2. The title – I always said to be creative with your titles and give the products you sell a cool name. In this case, it’s just a snow cover so adding Premium to it is actually the best choice and some customers will perceive it as one.

The bad stuff:

1. No reviews – It’s almost 2021 and dropshippers still don’t import reviews… Reviews are the only social proof you can have on your store that tells people you are actually legit and the product you sell is real. A big percentage of online shoppers check reviews before deciding to purchase the product so importing them from Aliexpress is a must! Especially when it can be done with a few clicks.

2. The price – $15.99 for this product is too low and it will leave you with no profit margin after the ad costs and all the other commissions. They probably hope the low price combined with the bundles will make them order more than one piece. Everything about this is wrong, even the bundles and I’ll explain why when we get to the Selling Strategy.

3. The bundles – Their bundles are a scam! One cover is $16 so 2 covers should sell for $32, but when I click on the Buy 2 Get 1 FREE the price is suddenly $40.

This isn’t how it supposed to work and all it will get you are angry customers which will leave your store once they do the math.

4. The extra products – The first mistake is to offer snow covers with rope instead of sticking to the one with magnets only. It’s just going to confuse the customers because they now don’t know which one is better and they’ll have to check the photos to see how the one with the ropes looks like.

The second mistake is to offer ice scrapers which is a totally different product AND goes against the whole purpose of this snow cover. Why would you need an ice scraper when the snow cover protects your windshield from ice?

On top of that, this isn’t even an upsell but an actual variant… Here’s a meme for every customer checking out their store:

If you stumble upon a product with many styles, colors, whatever, then think if it’s worth for you to offer them all. Too many options to choose from can be overwhelming to a customer who simply wants to order your product and get on with his life.

In this case, there’s absolutely no need to offer the second snow cover which comes with ropes so all the seller had to do is to offer one snow cover and that’s it.

5. Keeping the You May Also Like section

We should first focus on making a quick sale of whatever we advertise on Facebook. This “you may also like” section is just going to make our customers stay more on our store without taking the action we aimed for which is clicking on the Add to Cart button.

It’s like 1 in a 10,000 customers who’s going to visit the snow cover product page will actually pick one of these unrelated products and proceed to checkout. Focus on getting a sale as fast as possible and later you can use email marketing or general retargeting ads and offer other products to already existing customers.

6. The logo – It’s just simple text with nothing more. When I see stores that run traffic with logos such as these, I really don’t understand why they couldn’t pay someone $20 to design something cute and get done with it. I am a great believer in saving on Shopify store designs like getting free banners and not paying for them. But when it comes to a logo design, I always make sure to have something nice for every store I run.

I wish I could check their actual performance and the conversion rate, but even without that I know they lost TONS of sales because of these mistakes.

I give the product page a score of 5/10.

4. The Checkout

One of the most common mistakes is to keep the phone field mandatory – I explained it a thousand times already but some people hate giving their phone number and it’s basically the only private thing they have. Even if the phone number is going to be used only by USPS, they still prefer keeping it private to avoid spam calls.

So if you don’t have any special use for the phone numbers you collect, then just make this field optional to not lose any sales. But for some strange reason, this shop is also asking for the 2nd address like apartment number or suite which many don’t even have in the US(and other countries).

I can’t think of a reason to make this field mandatory as well and if I said earlier that they’re losing tons of sales due to a bad product page, then here it’s even worse.

This is a great example of how to take a fine product and f*ck it up completely.

5. Selling Strategy

First of all, start by increasing the selling price and go for a minimum of $24.99 or $29.99 + Free Shipping. I think this snow cover can easily sell for $29.99 + Free Shipping as I saw plenty of other covers sell for the same price. This is a problem solving product, it’s one size, and if you have a great ad + product page, people will pay the price.

Forget about all other styles and just offer the winter snow cover that costs $7 including shipping on Aliexpress. Keep it simple and offer only the snow cover with no other products as upsells or bundles.

The best option to increase your AOV(Average Order Value) is to offer quantity discounts. Start by offering at least 15% OFF or even %20 OFF for the 2nd cover as there are enough households that have two cars. Your best chance is to get enough people to buy 2 covers so you should start with a good discount!

Don’t be cheap and offer 5% or 10% discount for 2 covers. This isn’t tempting, especially when BFCM is here and all online stores out there offer crazy discounts.

Ride on the Christmas wave and make you discounts look like part of your Christmas sale, or BFCM sale. I suggest giving your store a festive look by downloading a Shopify app that puts some snow and other effects to your store. It should be a good combination to give it a more “Wintery” vibe which can help you make a few extra sales.

Think about what country to target first – USA is the default choice of many dropshippers so maybe skip it and go for Canada for less competition. If you speak German or French, then use this to your advantage by creating an ad and a product page in your language. We have dropshippers who sell to only one European country all the time and they’re making really nice profits!

6. Targeting

The first option is to simply target both genders and use car related interests:

If you’re running a CBO campaign with multiple adsets, you can give each adset a diffrent interest by clicking on suggestions. It can be seat belt, headlamp, tire, etc, whatever you like and hope Facebook will show it to people who really need this snow cover.

If it were me, I would at first target only men as I think men worry about this more than women:

You can either go with the same method as above by using only one interest per adset or you can go for a combination like this one to find men with a bit more passion for their cars. Plenty of ways to target car owners but I think the best one is just using car related interests.

I think car brand interests are a bit more general and a big chunk of that audience might be without a car – You might like Mercedes or BMW brands but it doesn’t mean you have a car. While if you’re in the seat belt audience, then the chances are much higher that you actually own a car.

Another option to maximize your chances is by targeting states with a lot of snow. Instead of targeting just USA, find a list(google it) of the coldest states in the USA and target them only. You’ll have a better chance to reach the relevant audience faster than other dropshippers that target USA only.

To Sum It Up:

A great example of a great product, with a huge potential, ruined only because of bad video ad and store. Fortunately for you, I reviewed everything I could and pointed you to the right direction so you can take this product right now and get sales going.

Act fast and sell this product before other more experienced dropshippers milk it dry!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me in the comments.

Good luck.
