Is TikTok Shopping Turning Off Users?

0

The trend in e-commerce and dropshipping has shifted to TikTok, but is shopping on the app driving users away?

According to a report by MUO, the TikTok shopping feature is convenient and profitable for brands since if you like a product in a video, you just click the link and buy it. In addition, you no longer have to search the web for the product you saw in the video.

However, a significant disadvantage is that sellers are abusing the feature. The article argues that many of the videos recommended to you are ads promoting products, which could turn users off the platform.

Shopping is not the main reason most people use TikTok, so the question is if saturation of videos selling products will turn users off.

The article also notes that TikTok has increased the maximum video length from 15 to 60 seconds, then to three minutes, and now to ten minutes. This could be an effort to make the platform more like Youtube and Instagram, but the article asks if this is a good thing.

Google says it may Reduce Visibility of Out of Stock Products

0

Google’s Search Advocate, John Mueller, said that the company may reduce the visibility of a product page if the item is out of stock.

“If something is out of stock, I believe the organic shopping result might not be shown – I’m not 100% sure,” said Mueller during a recent Google Search Central SEO hangout.

He added: “And when it comes to the normal search results, it can happen that when we see that something is out of stock, we will assume it’s more like a soft 404 error, where we will drop that URL from the search results as well. Theoretically, it could affect the visibility in search if something goes out of stock.”

Mueller clarified that if a product page also provides valuable information, it is likely to still appear in search results even if the product is out of stock.

Mueller also said that out-of-stock products would not influence the website’s ranking. “The other thing that’s also important to note here is that even if one product goes out of stock, the rest of the site’s rankings are not affected by that,” he said.

UK may Protect Businesses from Rising Credit Card Fees

0

The UK’s Payment Systems Regulator contacted credit card companies after discovering that merchant fees have “increased significantly” in recent years, according to a report by Insider Intelligence/eMarketer.

The regulator is considering implementing caps on fees.

Amazon had been in dispute with Visa over fees, and over 100,000 companies plan to sue Mastercard and Visa over the issue.

The higher UK fees are likely due to the country’s exit from the European Union, which limits fees.

The UK regulator is also creating regulations for cryptocurrency, and there are growing alternatives to traditional credit cards from buy now pay later services.

Judge rules advertisers can sue Facebook over ad rates

0

A judge in the United States ruled on Tuesday that a class action lawsuit by advertisers accusing Meta’s Facebook and Instagram of deception can go forward.

US District Judge James Donato in San Francisco allowed possibly millions of people and businesses to sue Facebook and Instagram for ads it paid for since 2014, Reuters reported.

Facebook is accused by DZ Reserve and other advertisers of inflating the “potential reach” tool by increasing the number of potential viewers by as much as 400% and overcharging for ads.

They also claim that senior Facebook officials knew that the “potential reach” metric was not accurate and included duplicate and fake accounts but did nothing about it and tried to hide it.

Meta is trying to get the suit dismissed, according to the report.
