Google plans to integrate conversational AI elements into its leading search engine, according to CEO Sundar Pichai.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal published on Thursday, Pichai denied that AI chatbots threaten Google’s search business.

After the fast rise of ChatGPT late last year, Google unveiled Bard in February amid a flurry of new generative AI tools and services.

According to Pichai, Google is experimenting with various new AI-powered search products, including ones that allow users to ask follow-up questions to their original query.

Google’s AI Bard is still in its very early phases. Therefore, those who want to interact with it must sign up for a waitlist.

Understanding which terms Google ranks for allows you to climb to the top of search engine results pages, increasing visibility, visitors, and conversion rates.

According to an article in the Search Engine Journal, here are some tips on keyword research for e-commerce.

The total number of searches per month for a specific keyword search phrase is referred to as search volume (or average monthly searches). You want to target keywords with sizeable monthly search volumes because it indicates that many people are searching for that topic.

But many searches could also mean a lot of competition for ranking. You may target these more significant terms if your content is high quality and you get backlinks. But it could take longer and be more challenging.

Keyword difficulty, often known as search engine optimization (SEO) or keyword competition, is a value between 0 and 100 that estimates the difficulty of ranking on Google for a particular keyword.

According to the report, a higher keyword difficulty score indicates that competing with existing search results will be challenging. Finally, it comes down to the quality and reputation of your website and the material you provide for each target term.

Search relevancy determines how closely the search query corresponds to the search results.

A keyword with a high search volume can be found. Nevertheless, if the results don’t describe what’s on the page or what you’re selling, you’re unlikely to achieve any meaningful goals or conversions.

Businesses ranging from toothpaste manufacturers to discounters are offering more luxury items such as designer body lotions and services to appeal to wealthier shoppers who are still spending freely despite increasing inflation and a turbulent economic environment, reported the AP.

Consider $10 toothpaste and $90 lotion that can be seen on grocery shelves.

Retailers and consumer product makers felt justified in boosting prices last year to cover greater expenses from strained supply chains and Russia’s war in Ukraine. In addition, some brands are seeking new ways to increase sales and profits by focusing on premium items amid a general sales downturn.

Walmart, for example, sells high-end $90 creams in its beauty aisles in select locations. Heinz, the producer of ketchup, has launched a range of chef-inspired condiments called Heinz 57, which includes an 11.25-ounce container of infused honey with black truffle for around $7.

Colgate-Palmolive made headlines last year when it announced its $10 three-ounce stain removal toothpaste, the company’s first in the United States at this price, citing the importance of luxury products in rising costs, according to the report.

Shopify’s President Harley Finkelstein told Entrepreneur that people are shifting their mindset from “how to get a job to how to create my own job.”

“Applications for new businesses are up 20%, and Google search terms for 2022 included a rise in terms like ‘How can I find my passion?’ and ‘How can I change careers?'” said, Finkelstein.

He explained that small businesses have an edge over giant corporations in that they may be far more agile, reactive, and authentically linked to their customers.

“With existing customers, you want to increase your engagement with them. You want to increase your relationship and get to know them better. You want them to become frequent buyers of your products as opposed to one-time buyers,” added Finkelstein.

On using influencers, he assessed, “The most important idea or concept around content creation and influencer marketing in any community is that there are usually one or two people who are incredibly relevant in that community.”

“Someone who is a role model or sort of a centerpiece of that community. That person doesn’t have to have a lot of followers, but if you can develop a relationship with that person — send them some free products to try — they can help introduce you to a brand-new demographic,” said Finkelstein.

Alibaba Group’s plans for a significant redesign have been interpreted as a hint that Beijing’s regulatory assault on corporates is ending, driving its shares higher and bolstering investor confidence in Chinese digital businesses’ future.

The conglomerate, established by Jack Ma, announced on Tuesday that it plans to divide into six units and pursue fundraising or listing opportunities for most of them, marking the most significant restructuring in its 24-year existence, reported Reuters.

Alibaba has announced that it will be divided into six divisions: Cloud Intelligence Group, Taobao Tmall Commerce Group, Local Services Group, Cainiao Smart Logistics Group, Global Digital Commerce Group, and Digital Media and Entertainment Group.

Alibaba owns AliExpress, a popular platform used by drop shippers.

Musk says Twitter will Show Only Verified Accounts on the Timeline “For You”

Twitter CEO Elon Musk tweeted that starting on April 15, “only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.”

This is “the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle,” said Musk.

Twitter already plans to remove legacy verified checkmarks on April 1.

However, Musk said that “verified bot accounts” would be allowed if they follow the platform’s rules and do not impersonate someone.

Amazon, Others Change “Free” Shipping as Prices Rise

Amazon and other online merchants who utilize so-called free delivery to develop customer loyalty are scrambling to prevent it from eroding profitability as prices rise and e-commerce declines.

According to Reuters, companies are increasing rates for speedier service, boosting minimum purchase requirements, and making other measures that push more costs to consumers who are already struggling financially.

“The days of free delivery are numbered,” said Ken Morris, managing partner at Cambridge Retail Advisors.

It’s no secret that most businesses raise product pricing to compensate for free shipping. Yet, according to the report, rising delivery costs and product inflation make the service unsustainable, as the likelihood of a recession threatens to dampen already-weak online buying.

The industry, where nearly three-quarters of e-commerce companies offer some sort of free shipping, is rethinking the financial cost of habituating customers to free shipping as retail margins are contracting and shipping rates for United Parcel Service, FedEx, and the U.S. Postal Service reach record levels.

British Retail Sales Rise Despite Cash-Strapped Households

Cash-strapped Official data released on Friday revealed that British households cut back on eating out and takeaways last month and instead shopped at supermarkets and discount stores, offering a surprise boost to retail sales, Reuters reported.

According to the Office for National Statistics, British retail sales unexpectedly increased by 1.2% in February compared to the previous month, returning sales volumes to pre-pandemic levels.

According to economists polled by Reuters, retail sales volumes in February were expected to be 0.2% higher than in January. Sales increase in January was also revised to 0.9% from 0.5%.

“In the latest month, discount department stores performed strongly with food shops also doing well as consumers, confronted with cost-of-living pressures, cut back on eating out or purchasing takeaways,” ONS statistician Darren Morgan said.

Nonetheless, Friday’s report indicated that retail sales volumes in February were still 3.5% lower than a year earlier.

Google Gives Early Access to Bard, its ChatGPT Rival

Google opened up on Tuesday early access to its ChatGPT rival Bard.

The company stated in a blog post that access is starting in the US and UK and will expand to more countries and languages over time.

The Verge tested out Bard and said it is faster than either ChatGPT or Bing. In addition, it “seems to have as potentially broad capabilities as these other systems. (In our brief tests, it was also able to generate lines of code, for example.) But it also lacks Bing’s clearly labeled footnotes, which Google says only appear when it directly quotes a source like a news article and seemed generally more constrained in its answers.”

Google added, “We’ll continue to improve Bard and add capabilities, including coding, more languages and multimodal experiences. And one thing is certain: We’ll learn alongside you as we go. With your feedback, Bard will keep getting better and better.”

150 Million US TikTok users, up from 100 Million in 2020.

TikTok announced on Monday that it has 150 million monthly active users in the United States, up from 100 million in 2020.

Reuters reported that the Chinese-owned app revealed the amount ahead of TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew’s hearing before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Thursday.

On Friday, six more US senators approved bipartisan legislation that would give President Joe Biden new authority to prohibit TikTok on national security grounds. TikTok stated last week that the Biden administration asked its Chinese owners to renounce their stake or face a US ban.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Mark Warner, cosponsoring legislation to give the administration the authority to ban TikTok, stated at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast that he did not believe TikTok data in the United States was safe.

The latest numbers demonstrate the app’s widespread popularity among younger People.
