Twitter CEO Elon Musk tweeted that starting on April 15, “only verified accounts will be eligible to be in For You recommendations.”

This is “the only realistic way to address advanced AI bot swarms taking over. It is otherwise a hopeless losing battle,” said Musk.

Twitter already plans to remove legacy verified checkmarks on April 1.

However, Musk said that “verified bot accounts” would be allowed if they follow the platform’s rules and do not impersonate someone.

You can sign up for a verified checkmark and additional features by paying $7 monthly at https://t.co/JUTlIcVsSe.

Separately, a report by Platformer claimed that 35 VIP accounts have their posts boosted on Twitter, overcoming an algorithm that prevents many posts from the same user from being seen.
