Chat-Based Search Ad Marketers are Optimistic

0

61% of US paid search marketers believe future chat-based search advertising would be very or highly effective, according to NP Digital.

Google and Microsoft are experimenting with incorporating advertisements into their chatbot experiences, reported Insider Intelligence/eMarketer.

Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, hailed the company’s Search Generative Experience as a “clear quality win,” but search specialists are not convinced.

“Chat-based search could provide users with more conversational, personalized search results. However, there are concerns around misinformation, a cluttered interface, and regulatory risks,” according to Insider Intelligence/eMarketer.

According to NP, 20% of US marketers see chat-based search ads as “extremely effective” and 41% as “very effective.” Another 19% evaluate chat-based search ads as “moderately effective.”

Strong Amazon Sales could be Positive Signal for E-Commerce

0

Despite months of dismal economic statistics, Amazon’s good quarterly results are just another indication that Americans are still purchasing, and could be a positive signal for Walmart and Target, who report next week.

For the second quarter ending June 30, the e-commerce giant reported a 4.2% increase in sales on Amazon.com and a 6.4% increase in sales at its physical store operations, which include Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods, and Go convenience shops, reported Reuters.

The two largest retailers in the United States, Walmart, and Target, have struck a cautious tone for the remainder of the year. Despite growing interest rates and credit card debt, Americans continue to spend.

However, according to the report, other major companies like Apple, Maersk, and advertising firm WPP stated last week they expect less demand in their respective industries.

Are Advertisers Putting Too Much Weight on Meta?

0

Meta accounts for 19.5% of US digital ad spend, despite US adults spending only 7.6% of their time on the platform, according to Insider Intelligence/eMarketer.

Meta earns significantly more per hour spent on Facebook and Instagram ($0.93) than YouTube ($0.13) or TikTok ($0.16), the report noted.

The data also showed that 37% of US Facebook users and 35% of Instagram users will buy on the platforms this year.
Meta is ahead of the competition regarding user data, ad placement, and trackable ROI. This could be part of why advertisers continue to over-rely on Meta even though users spend nearly as much time on Youtube.

User time spent on Meta includes both Facebook and Instagram.

PayPal Introduces Stablecoin for Payments and Transfers

0

Stablecoins that are fully supported and regulated have the potential to revolutionize payments in web3 and digitally native contexts. PayPal USD, a US dollar-denominated stablecoin, was launched today to address a rising potential for stablecoins that are fully supported, the company announced on Monday.

PayPal USD is intended to contribute to the payment opportunities provided by stablecoins and is 100% guaranteed by US dollar deposits, short-term US Treasuries, and comparable cash equivalents. PayPal USD is issued by Paxos Trust Company and is redeemable 1:1 for US dollars.

Beginning today and continuing in the coming weeks, qualifying US PayPal customers using PayPal USD will be able to make the following transactions: Transfer PayPal USD to other PayPal accounts and external wallets. It will also be possible to pay at checkout with PayPal USD or to convert it into other cryptocurrencies.

“The shift toward digital currencies requires a stable instrument that is both digitally native and easily connected to fiat currency like the US dollar,” said Dan Schulman, president and CEO of PayPal.

Video Outpaces Non-Video Programmatic Ad Spend

0

From 2023 to 2025, US programmatic video ad spending will increase by $22.51 billion, or 30.2%, according to a forecast of Insider Intelligence/eMarketer.

Programmatic video overtook non-video ad expenditure in the United States for the first time last year. Ad spend on programmatic video ads hit $64.17 billion, while non-video programmatic ad spend fell marginally to $58.14 billion.

The key driver of the shift toward video programmatic ad spend is connected TV.

According to Insider Intelligence/eMarketer, mobile will receive most US programmatic video ad spend this year, accounting for 63.5% of total spend.

In addition, social video is a significant driver of programmatic video ad spend as social video will climb 12.5% this year to account for 41.5% of all video ad expenditure.

Etsy Expects Weak Third Quarter Demand

0

Etsy estimated third-quarter sales below market estimates on Wednesday, indicating a slowing in demand for handcrafted goods on its online marketplace, sending its shares down 6% after the bell.

Reuters reported that consumers have cut back on spending, which includes higher-margin home furnishings and personalized products and gifts sold on Etsy’s marketplace.

This has dulled Etsy’s COVID-era profits when buyers with disposable income splurged on decor and other non-essential items. In the second quarter that ended on June 30, the company’s consolidated gross merchandise sales declined 0.6% to $3.01 billion.

According to Refinitiv data, the company expects revenue in the third quarter to range between $610 and $645 million.

Pinterest Increases Revenue as Digital Marketing Recovers

0

Pinterest topped second-quarter revenue projections on Tuesday as monthly active users increased and digital advertising recovered from a slump caused by an uncertain economy.

The quarterly results of tech titans Meta Platforms and Alphabet had also indicated a fledgling revival in business ad spending, driven by indicators of cooling inflation and improved consumer confidence, reported Reuters.

According to Refinitiv statistics, Pinterest’s revenue for the quarter that ended June 30 increased 6% to $708 million, compared to market projections of $696.1 million.

Global monthly active users on the platform increased 8% year on year to 465 million, exceeding projections of 462.8 million.

Pinterest earned 21 cents per share in quarterly adjusted profit, up from 11 cents a year ago.

Tips for Selling B2B

0

One of the first questions a company needs to answer is who are the strongest competitors in online search and off.

According to an article in Search Engine Land, other pertinent questions are what publications their customers read, which conferences they attend, and finding influencers in their niche.

“For an older site, an overlooked opportunity may be to pull back and look at specific queries and pages that have lost traffic over time,” the article states.

If a rival has a publicly accessible forum, you may look through the threads to discover what others are having trouble with, what features they would like to see, and so on.

In addition, your own and competitors’ testimonials and customer reviews can help generate new keyword ideas, according to the article.

Musk Claims a ‘New High’ in Monthly Users of X

0

Elon Musk announced Friday on X that monthly users of social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, had reached a “new high,” and he released a graph showing the most recent figure of over 540 million.

According to Reuters, it is also the latest in a series of comments from X executives claiming great usage traction following the July 5 introduction of a direct competitor platform dubbed Threads by Meta Platforms.

Musk stated earlier this month that X’s cash flow was negative due to a nearly 50% decline in advertising revenue and a high debt load.

Musk has made a lot of product and organizational changes since taking charge. The company launched the verified blue tick as a premium service and began sharing a portion of ad sales with select platform content creators.
