In a recent Youtube post, Gary Vee said that TikTok became popular because of its algorithm, which shows users what they are interested in.
On the other hand, older social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter show you content based on who you follow, but this is less interesting for users over the long term since interests change.
“People are always evolving,” said Gary Vee, noting that your old friends on Facebook have changed just as you have, and the things they post may not be interesting to you anymore.
TikTok “keeps pounding interests,” he said, adding that Facebook and others are trying to copy TikTok, but algorithms are no easy matter to create and are complex.
