Apple announced that it will soon be possible to use your iPhone as a webcam, a move that could open up many new products related to holding the phone on the laptop or using a separate stand.

The Mac will automatically switch to the iPhone if placed on a stand and plugged in or detected by using Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The new Continuity Camera will work with macOS 13 and iOS 16.

“Continuity Camera also brings advanced features like Center Stage, Portrait mode, and Studio Light to all Mac devices,” Apple stated on its website.

The feature will also utilize the Ultra Wide camera on the iPhone, “which simultaneously shows the user’s face and an overhead view of their desk — great for creating DIY videos, showing off sketches over FaceTime, and so much more.”
