To comply with European Union rules, Meta Platforms announced on Monday that it will offer European customers a subscription plan to use Facebook and Instagram without advertisements.

Monthly membership options for customers in the EU, European Economic Area, and Switzerland will cost 9.99 euros ($10.58) for web users and 12.99 euros for iOS and Android users, reported Reuters.

The EU restrictions threaten to limit Meta’s capacity to tailor advertisements for users without their consent, threatening its primary source of revenue.

In the EU, the world’s most popular social networking network has been subjected to antitrust scrutiny. It lost its case against a German data restriction order in July when Europe’s top court upheld the German antitrust watchdog’s authority to examine privacy violations.
