Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup created by ex-OpenAI workers, has released Claude, its AI chatbot. While the tool performs many of the same functions as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic claims it is “less likely to produce harmful outputs” and “easier to converse with.”
According to a report in The Verge, Anthropic’s overall goal is to create an AI assistant that is “helpful, honest, and harmless.” It also lacks internet access, as Anthropic claims it is intended to be “self-contained.”
In February, Google contributed $300 million to Anthropic. Similar to ChatGPT, the company’s chatbot can deliver summaries, answer queries, aid with writing, and produce code.
Months before its debut, Anthropic had already provided Claude access to several businesses.
