During the 48-hour Amazon Prime Day event, customers in the US spent a record $14.2 billion online across retailers, according to a report released by Adobe Analytics on Thursday.
The Amazon sales event has also seen businesses like Walmart and Target post deals to entice customers looking for big savings, reported Reuters.
The two-day Amazon shopping extravaganza has transformed July, usually a sluggish month for businesses, into a time when parents hunt for deals, particularly on back-to-school clothing, electronics, uniforms, backpacks, dorm decorations, and supplies.
Adobe reported that total online sales increased by 11% on July 16 and 17, from $12.7 billion over the same two days in 2023.
Amazon stated that this year’s Prime Day event had record sales and sold more items over the two days than in any previous year.
